A Year of Poems – Day 289

I can’t believe the end will come
With nuclear blasts and thermal bombs
I can’t believe the stars will fall
Because we tried to shoot them all.
The crickets sing and children play
For life has always found a way
And yet because we cannot love
Destruction threatens from above.
The world is going to end in fire
So He said and fueled our ire
But it might not be divine devices
But death by way of our old vices.
